Blocksburg (formerly, Blocksburgh[1], Blockburger's[2] and Powellville[2]) is an unincorporated community in Humboldt County, California.[1] It is located 15 miles (24 km) east-southeast of Weott,[2] at an elevation of 1594 feet (486 m).[1]
The Blocksburgh post office opened in 1877. The name was changed to Blocksburg in 1893[2], and was named for Benjamin Blockburger, a local merchant.[2], The original name was Powellville in honor of Joseph James Powell, the area's first settler.[2]
